Saturdays are for carb cleaning

Helped out my friend Justin this afternoon - we ended up cleaning out his carb on his Yamaha Vino 125, and got it back to 45mph. But, there appears to be more issues with his bike, as he should be pulling 60 at WOT. I did take it for a test ride, and it's pretty official, the tune is definitely off. But, it wasn't even pulling 30 before we cleaned it, and sputtering and dying out... Now it accelerates smoothly. Mission accomplished. I was disappointed that the carb clean didn't get him back up to his 60, but I think he has more issues than just the jets being clogged. But, with it running now, he will be able to get it to the shop for a tune-up safely.

Otherwise, I've been working quite heavily on the bike. Here's the most recent modification list - It's growing in leaps and bounds!

New 20mm Sheng Wey racing carb

And then of course, the ride from the side :

New exhaust:

And one more of the Ol' Girl :

I still have a few mechanical issues to deal with, ie: Carb tuning, but the new exhaust has a bung for a wideband, so the tuning should go very smoothly. I'm taking it up to the shop tomorrow to see if my regular place can tune it...

Otherwise, the CDI and new belt/weights need to go in. Then we'll see what my tuning can yield - I'm hoping for a top speed of somewhere around 47-48, but don't think it's out of character to shoot for 50. We'll see what happens after this sucker gets tuned!

Until then, I'm just going to be enjoying riding her after being out of commission for a while now. Cannot wait!
